Daniel Nestor looks to erase the nightmare from the Atlanta Olympics by snatching a medal with partner Sebastien Lareau in men's doubles at the Sydney Games. Nestor suffered an illness in 1996 which hampered his play. He was eliminated early in both singles and in men's doubles with partner Grant Connell of Vancouver.

One of the world's best doubles player, Nestor is a powerful server who always hits the ball hard. He ended a successful partnership with Mark Knowles of the Bahamas and joined Lareau in January. However, they did not play until May at the French Open because Nestor underwent shoulder surgery. He burst on the international stage when he upset world number-one Stephan Edberg of Sweden in Davis Cup play in 1992. Nestor was ranked 238th at the time.
