Romania's golden gymnasts retire
 BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) -- Gymnastic champions Simona Amanar and Claudia Presecan will retire and become coaches, a move that comes a month after they led Romania to its best Olympic showing in the sport.
 The retirements of the 21-year-old Olympians were confirmed Friday by a gymnastics official.

Romania suing IOC over lost gold medal
 BUCHAREST (AP) -- The Romanian Olympic Committee is suing the International Olympic Committee over the loss of Andreea Raducan's gymnastics gold medal for a positive drug test.
 Ion Badoi, head of the gymnastics' school in Deva where Raducan trains, said Tuesday that Ion Tiriac, who resigned as head of his country's Olympic committee over the Raducan affair, had initiated the lawsuit on behalf of the panel.

Barsukova wins rhythmic gold in an upset
 SYDNEY (AP) -- Lose your hoop, and the gold medal goes right along with it.
 Alina Kabaeva of Russia learned that the hard way Sunday, committing an error the judges couldn't ignore. The overwhelming favorite finished third, while Russian teammate Yulia Barsukova performed flawlessly to win the gold medal and Yulia Raskina of Belarus took silver.
