US, Russia, Kazakhstan women will go to Sydney

PALERMO, Sicily (AP) -- The United States women's water polo team is headed for the Sydney Olympics, following its 6-5 win over Hungary on Saturday in the semifinals of a qualification tournament in Palermo.

Brenda Villa scored the game-winner in the final period after Hungary came back from a two-goal deficit to tie the game at 5-5.

The United States will face Russia, which also qualified for the summer games with an 8-7 win over Italy in the other semifinal.

Kazakhstan beat Japan 9-4 in the first match of the day to win the third Olympic berth as the top Asian finisher in the Italian round-robin.
