Netherlands gains final Olympics berth

 HANOVER, Germany (AP) -- The Netherlands edged Romania 7-5 on Sunday at the Olympic water polo qualifying berth to gain the fifth and final berth for the Sydney games.

 Greece, Russia, Slovakia and Yugoslavia had already earned at spot in the games at the tournament.

 The Olympic water polo tournament will have 12 teams. The seven that had qualified earlier are host Australia, Hungary, the U.S., Kazakstan, Italy, Spain and Croatia.

 Canada's hopes for qualifying ended with a loss to Poland on Thursday.

 The Canadians finished 12th in the 15-team competition after losing on Sunday to France 9-6.

 Ted Bader of Guelph, Ont., scored three goals, while Yannick Lize and Nathaniel Miller of Montreal and Darryl Bourne of Winnipeg added one each.
