Lead Don Bartlett and skip Kevin Martin have been teammates since 1991. Both are determined to make the 2002 Olympic tournament their first major win on international ice.

"I told Kevin 'When we win the worlds, I'm playing one more year and quitting," said Bartlett, who works for Canada Post. "We were so close in '91 and '97, that's the only thing that's keeping me in the game right now, is to win the worlds. That's all I want."

Bartlett and the rest of Martin's crew know they'll face a tough field at Salt Lake City. It includes 1999 world champion Hammy McMillan of Scotland, Denmark's Ulrik Schmidt, Finland's Markku Uusipaavalniemi, German Sebastian Stock, Thierry Mercier of France, Norway's Pal Trulsen, Sweden's Peter Lindholm and Switzerland's Andreas Schwaller

Bartlett also has an event in his name, the Don Bartlett Classic held annually in his hometown of Gander, Newfoundland. If offers over $60,000 in prize money and is part of the World Curling Tour.
