Patrice Lauzon doesn't need to work in his father's auto shop anymore to pay his way through a figure skating career. It appears Lauzon and his partner Marie-France Dubreuil are on the road to success. In fact they are now favoured to go to the Olympics as Canada's number-two couple behind Shae-Lynn Bourne and Victor Kraatz.

"In ice dancing skaters combine theatre with sport," said Lauzon, whose routines with Dubreuil are known for being dramatic and passionate. "It is physical and you must show emotion. It's a good mix."

There should be no short age of dramatics this season. Their long program is performed to the music of the famous opera Madame Butterfly. It's a story which ends with the main character's suicide because she has lost her lover.
