Backstreet Boys win sales race
The Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and Ricky Martin were the big sellers of 1999.
The three pop acts sold 23 million copies of their LPs between them, MTV reports,
but the Backstreet Boys walked away with top honours.
The boys sold 9.4 million copies of "Millennium" (which is nominated for "Album of the Year" at this year's Grammy Awards).
Teen pop princess, Britney Spears, slid in at the number 2 slot. Her debut album "Baby One More Time" sold 8.3 million copies in 1999.
Ricky Martin, the man who brought the Latin craze to North America, came in third place selling 5.9 million copies of his first English language album. "Ricky Martin" sold 5.9 million copies.
Christina Aguilera also made the big-seller list with her self-titled debut album that moved 3.6 million copies in just over four months.
