Backstreet doesn't stress about record-setting

Backstreet's Howie Dorough isn't worried about breaking records with "Black and Blue".

In an interview with Wall Of Sound, Howie said he and the rest of the Backstreet Boys aren't too worried about breaking *Nsync's single-week sales record (2.4 million) with their new album.

"The whole big thing is who's breaking whose record, especially since we had the record ourselves last year," Howie said. "But records are made to be broken, and to us, it's not so much about that. It's just about making good music, and if the fans love it and we're happy with it, everyone else will come along with it."

The boys might just beat the record again. On "Black & Blue" they teamed up with Max Martin, who produced their last album, "Millennium", which sold over 11 million copies of in the U.S. alone

Howie said he's proud of the fact that the new album includes seven tracks written by the group themselves. Two songs were written with the input of all five members, while the others were written by individual group members.

Howie worked on "How Did I Fall In Love With You" and "What Makes You Different Makes You Beautiful".

Backstreet plans to hit the road with "Black aAnd Blue" on Jan. 23 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and continue through Southeast Asia, Australia, Europe and South America before coming back the U.S. for more appearances.

"It's going to be a great show," Howie told Wall Of Sound. "We're probably going to go with an end stage this time, instead of in the round. And we've got lots of ideas, like a musical theme, with different sets and changes. It's going to be really exciting."
