Backstreet Boys sell out tour

By RICHARD JOHN -- AllPop

If you wanted to see the Backstreet Boys on their upcoming North American tour, you'd better already have a ticket.

Various sources are reporting that the entire tour, sponsored by Sears, sold out mere hours after tickets went on sale Saturday morning. According to Hollywood Reporter, 765 000 tickets were scooped up by fans for the 39 North American dates. This amounts to roughly $30 million.

The Toronto Sun is reporting that the boys' November 11 date at Toronto's SkyDome SkyTent - capacity 29,000 - took all of 28 minutes to sell out on Saturday. So far, show promoters Universal Concerts say a second Toronto date is unlikely due to tight tour routing.

Jeff Kwatinetz, co-manager of the Backstreet Boys, told the Reporter, "This is kind of exciting. This sale shows this band's career is definitely on the upswing."

The 'Sears Into The Millennium' tour kicks off in Florida Sep. 14 and wraps up in Florida Dec. 2.
