Backstreet's booked and backstabbed

The Backstreet Boys prove their popularity and get exposed.

By STEPHANIE McGrath -- AllPop

The Backstreet Boys North American tour is sold-out. The five music stars are enjoying a sensational success and the adoration of fans everywhere. Tickets for the shows sold out in one day and the sales made about $3 million, according to a report in E! Online. The tour kicked off in North Carolina on Sept. 17.

The ticket rush isn't a surprise. Everyday, true followers of AJ, Howie, Nick, Kevin and Brian, chat with each other about their favorite member, the latest gossip on the group, and how to meet their heros.

At the Backstreet Boys official website fans don't hold anything back. A message posted today read "I love Howie's eyes, hair, smile, body, continuous wink, his lisp, you name it, I love it !!!!". Another message raved about seeing them in concert, the writer claiming she was "already in BSB withdrawal".

What would happen if these adoring fans learned about some dirt on the boys? We're about to find out. Entertainment Weekly reported that an ex-girlfriend of Backstreet Boy, Brian Littrell, has written a tell-all book about the kings of pop music.

The book is full of BSB trivia like Brian insisting his macaroni and cheese be covered with ritz crackers. It also gives readers a glimpse into the difficulties of being on the road all the time, "Sometimes he would cry because he missed his family and needed some free time,'' writes the author about Nick Carter.

"What You Wanna Know: Backstreet Boys Secrets Only a Girlfriend Can Tell," by Samantha Stonebraker, comes to bookstores on Nov. 3.
