Spice Girls to reunite for award show?
The day when Geri Halliwell shares the stage with the Spice Girls may be drawing near.
The Spice Girls have had a tough year in the tabloids but they're finally getting a bit of positive publicity.
The group won a special honour at this year's Brit Awards when they were given the award for Outstanding Contribution to the British Music Industry, Dotmusic reports.
Pop veterans, the Eurythmics, won the award last year.
"The Spice Girls have smashed most world-wide record books in their own way as much as the Beatles did in the Sixties," said Rob Dickins when he announced the award, Yahoo reports.
"We are overjoyed to have been asked to accept this award," the girls said in a statement. "We are still young and have, we hope, many more years to enjoy being part of the great British music scene."
Sporty, Posh, Baby and Scary were feeling so good about the award, they even offered a kind gesture toward ex-Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell.
"Spice Girls started out as five and we feel this award is in recognition of the great achievements of all five."
Officials from Virgin Records don't know whether or not Geri would be accepting the award with the rest of the group.
Geri quit the Spice Girls in May 1998 during the spectacularly successful SpiceWorld tour.
The girls have been invited to perform a medley of their hits at the awards show on March 3.
In more Spice news, Mel C (Sporty) admitted that she's taking her solo album's criticism pretty hard, Dotmusic reports.
When Mel released "Northern Star" late last year, she was slammed by critics everywhere for changing her image.
"The thing is, The Spice Girls is half of me, whereas my solo material is the whole of me," Mel said in an interview with BBC. "I wasn't prepared for all the criticism I got and I took it very badly."
The latest rumour is though, that Mel might be getting over her depression with a little help from a male friend, The English Sun reports.
Sporty was spotted hugging Paul Byatt, who stars on a UK show "Brookside", at a charity party.
Mel and Paul were getting friendly until she spotted The Sun's reporter and then she left his side to talk to other friends.
