Spice videos on trial

Four videos of the Spice Girls in their early days are the subject of a complicated court battle.

The tapes include never-seen footage of Mel B, Mel C, Geri, Victoria and Emma when they first met and started working together. The videos show the girls when they lived together, working in the studio and singing at their first gig, The English Sun reports.

The tapes end in 1995, one year before their first single, "Wannabe", hit number 1 on the charts.

The tapes only came to public notice when a company called Rave Productions collapsed in 1996. The UK High Court will decide who owns the videos, which could be worth millions in sales.

Steve Newman and John Gaudino, ex-Rave execs, are currently suing their colleague, Neil Davies, for equal rights to the tapes, The Sun reports.

Newman and Gaudino's lawyer said in court yesterday that the three partners had a verbal agreement to share the videos' profits, while Davies' party said there was no such agreement.
