Scary Spice the actress

Scary Spice is giving acting a try.

Mel B will star in "Rusty", a semi-autobiographical film about a working-class girl who heads to the city in search of fame and fortune, Q online reports.

The script is being written by Don Webb, who has written for the UK police drama "The Bill".

The Spice Girl started her career as a bit player. Her credits included a walk-on part on "Coronation Street".

Mel will try to schedule filming around promotions for the Spice Girls third album. scheduled for release later this year.

Meanwhile, Mel C (Sporty Spice) is planning a film career of her own, Dotmusic reports.

Mel, who's been busy promoting her solo album "Northern Star", wants to appear in an action/adventure flick.

"I'd like to be a female Sly Stallone, or Bruce Willis's sidekick in a film where I get to save the world," she told Dotmusic.
