Sporty Spice fights fat

Mel C (Sporty Spice) is responding to UK papers that started calling her "beefy Spice" after photos of her in a bathing suit were published, ITN reports.

Mel has always been known for keeping her super-toned body in shape, which is why the sight of cellulite was noticed.

Sporty said the insults were "irresponsible" and sent out poor messages to young people who have body-image problems.

"There are a lot of young kids out there with weight problems, and I think it is irresponsible to focus on these issues," she said. "A lot of young people are screwed up about their weight and end up getting wound up about whether they are too fat or too thin when they really don't need to."

Mel isn't the only Spice Girl who's endured weight criticisms in the media.

Earlier this year Victoria Beckham (Posh) was accused of being anorexic, although she claimed the she lost weight naturally after the birth of her son Brooklyn.
