Spice politics

A U.K. politician is hoping to gain young votes with the help of a Spice Girl.

William Hague, the leader of the U.K. Conservative Party, has asked Mel B (a.k.a. Scary Spice) to sing at his party's conference later in the year, ITN reports.

Hague is hoping to make his party appear more modern with Mel's presence.

The Spice Girl and the politician met at the Ethnic Multicultural Media Awards last month. Hague could be hoping to score Mel's support because the Spice Girls are admirers of former Conservative leader, Margaret Thatcher.
