Sporty Spice just cancelled her concerts in the U.K. and Ireland.

Melanie C was struck by a throat infection and has been told to rest by her doctors, which ruined her plans to kick-off her tour dates in Belfast on Sunday, the BBC reports.

The tour was originally scheduled to hit Belfast, Dublin, Manchester, Edinburgh, Liverpool, and finish up in Bristol on May 11.

"I was really looking forward to the tour, and I'm sorry to have disappointed my fans, but I have to follow doctors orders, and look forward to touring in May," the singer said.

The tour dates Mel arranged for February and March are not expected to change.

Mel's tour is in support of her solo work. Her debut solo album, "Northern Star" is the most successful solo effort by a Spice Girl.
