Number one in the year 2000

The Spice Girls aren't going to be left out of what could become the first hit single of the millennium.

According to Dotmusic, the spunky foursome added their names to a list of music stars contributing to a BBC charity record that's aiming for the first number one spot of the millennium.

Nearly twenty musical acts, including Annie Lennox and James Brown, have signed up to sing a line from the Rolling Stones, "It's Only Rock 'N' Roll".

The single will be released by Universal TV in time for the first charts of the year 2000.

The Spice Girls probably don't mind helping charity since they're not exactly on a tight budget. Dotmusic also reported that the girls have made about 25 million pounds between them. They are each paid over 6 million pounds by Spice Girls Limited.

But what about Geri? Don't fret, the now solo star reportedly paid herself 5.8 million pounds last year.
