Melanie C. chats up T.O.
By STEPHANIE McGRATH
Melanie C. a.k.a."Sporty Spice" spent some time filling reporters in on her new album, Canadian connections and the return of the Spice Girls.
Melanie looked ready to take the world by storm today. Looking buffed, blond and tatooed Melanie seemed excited and proud of her new album, "Northern Star."
"I didn't know I was that good," said Melanie about her album. "This album is 100% me!"
But, according to Melanie, having solo success doesn't mean the end of the amazingly popular Spice Girls. She says the four are currently working on a new album and are about half-way finished already. She says there's some great tracks on the new Spice Girls album sees no reason why the third Spice Girls album should be the last.
The Spice Girls have live dates scheduled in December. Once the Spice Girls tour dates are finished, Melanie hopes to do more extensive solo touring after that, if her album is successful.
Right now, Melanie is happy to be in Toronto. She's got family in Windsor and visits Canada often.
She's also got other Canadian connections. She's already made a pop hit teaming up with Bryan Adams for "When You're Gone." The two collaborated again for "Northern Star" but the songs didn't make the final cut.
Melanie said the songs were good but the twelve songs she picked for her album "Were perfect for the story I wanted to tell."
She says it was very difficult narrowing the album down to twelve songs, but she's pleased with the result.
She said the Bryan Adams songs will pop up eventually. Melanie says she hopes an appropriate movie soundtrack will come along in the future.
Melanie says she'd also like to work with Natalie Appleton from All Saints, who's a good friend and another Canadian.
