Spice Battle begins

Former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) are releasing their singles in the U.K. today.

Reuters reported that the Mirror tabloid gave Emma 9 out of 10 and Geri just 5 for potential.

But Geri's already done the solo circuit, grabbing the Number 1 spot on the British pop charts with "Mi Chico Latino."

Emma's single is a cover of Eddie Brickell and the New Bohemians' "What I am". Geri's third single is called "Lift Me Up".

In a Dotmusic poll, Geri came out as the favored number 1 singer but Emma was close behind in the opinion poll.

Meanwhile, in the U.S...., Mel B, (Scary Spice), is working on her own solo material.

A report in the Sunday, L.A. Times said Mel B is in L.A. working with Dru Hill's Sisqo on her debut album.
Spice fans might wonder if all the solo fuss means an end for the Spice Girls. But Mel C. told Toronto press that the girls are working on the next Spice Gilrs album and don't plan to break-up.
