Faye quits Steps

One member of Steps is walking away from the popular group.

The UK pop group is losing member Faye Tozer to a solo career, The London Sun reports.

Faye's apparently had enough of the group's busy schedule and might not perform during Steps' upcoming 28-date UK tour, which is scheduled to kick off on May 7 and end on June 9. But the rest of Steps are claiming that the show will go on even if Faye isn't performing.

Faye and manager Tim Byrne have had several meetings recently. He called a crisis gathering this weekend but the singer has been complaining about the pop group's schedule for several months. In October, Faye told Esquire magazine that "losing my weekends - that really p***** me off".

The gruelling schedule Faye was referring to included 33 shows in 60 days before Christmas last year. A friend of the singer says she's ready to say goodbye.

"She's had a great time with the band but thinks this is the right time for a change."

Faye and her long-time boyfriend Jasper are planning to get married this year and hope to work together musically soon.

"Faye's really excited about the whole thing and has told me she's grown out of Steps and wants to look forward to doing something else," a friend told The Sun.

Steps have enjoyed nine hit singles and two hit albums in the UK.
