Robbie sued for plagiarism
Robbie Williams is being sued for plagiarism.
Singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III is suing the UK pop star, Dotmusic reports.
Wainwright claims that Robbie's song "Jesus In A Camper Van," from his album "I've Been Expecting You", is based on his lyrics.
The section causing all the problems is below:
"Jesus in a camper van/He said sorry to leave you but I've done all I can/I suppose even the Son of God gets it hard sometimes/Especially when he goes round saying I am the way" (Robbie's song)
Here's Wainwright's song:
"Every Son of God gets a little hard luck some time/Every Son of God gets a little hard luck some time/Every Son Of God gets a little hard luck some time/ Especially when He goes round saying He's the way.
If Robbie loses the case, he and his songwriting partner, Guy Chambers, will have to pay Wainwright over a million dollars.
The two were reportedly asked in 1998 to remove the verse from the song, but refused.
