Robbie takes on charity
Robbie Williams has been asked to take on the role of world-wide ambassador.
UNICEF is asking the UK pop star to fill the shoes of Ian Dury, who died of cancer on March 23, Dotmusic reports.
Before his death, Dury was a strong supporter of UNICEF and encouraged Robbie to participate in the charity. The two often went on missions together.
"Robbie was a big fan of Dury, and the pair went on a charity visit just before Ian passed away," UNICEF spokesperson Abbie Pritchard told Dotmusic. "Robbie has told us he wants to carry on Ian's work with the charity for him.
"We are currently trying to work out what he can do - either in England or abroad - depending on his timetable."
Robbie Williams is still the most-played artist in Britain.
The UK pop star is officially the most-played artist on British Radio for the second year in a row, Music 365 reports.
Robbie beat out Britney Spears and Shania Twain for the title, bestowed by the Radio Academy.
His singles "Angels" and "She's The One" worked together to push Robbie to the top of the list. His songs were aired on the radio 136,245 times in 1999.
