Robbie's new band

Robbie Williams is tired of singing alone.

The U.K. pop star who got his start in the boyband Take That, has formed a rock group called Tipsy McStagger, the London Sun reports.

Wondering why Robbie chose the name Tipsy for his group? Robbie has been known to use Tipsy as an alias when he checks into hotels.

The group is being described as a fun side project to Robbie's solo career, and Tipsy McStagger is expected to perform at several small venues later in the year.

The group includes Robbie's bassist Fil Eisler, who has written several songs with the pop star.

Robbie insists his new group won't take away from his successful solo career, and The Sun reports that he originally didn't even want people to know he was involved with it.

"It all started as a bit of fun, but when they got together everything worked out really well," a source told The Sun about the birth of Robbie's new group. "The demos sound really good. It's still getting off the ground, but they could play live dates later this year."

Robbie probably won't front the band. Instead, he is expected to concentrate on songwriting for the group.
