Robbie Williams to record big band album

Following in the footsteps of artists such as Sinead O'Connor, Bryan Ferry, Chicago, Colin James, and Brian Setzer, British superstar Robbie Williams is readying an album of big-band covers.

Reuters reports that Williams is seriously considering drawing on Frank Sinatra's catalogue for the album, which is expected by the end of the year.

The project was likely triggered by Williams' cover of Sinatra's "Have You Met Miss Jones," from the soundtrack to "Bridget Jones's Diary."

"He's probably going to cover some popular standards with a band," Katie Conroy, spokesman for Williams' label, EMI, told Reuters.
