Williams scores record Brit nominations
By RICHARD JOHN -- JAM! Showbiz
This year's Brit Awards may go down in history as the 'Robbie Williams Show'. The former Take That star is up for a record six awards in four categories - including doubles in two categories. Oasis previously held the nomination record of five in 1996.
The nominees for the UK music industry awards - akin to the Junos and Grammys - were announced Monday, January 11 at a press conference at London's Cafe de Paris.
The awards will be given out at the London Arena on February 16, where Williams is scheduled to perform for the second year in a row. Williams' performance last year - 'The Full Monty medley' with Tom Jones - appeared on his 'Let Me Entertain You' single.
Williams is in the running in four categories - Best British Solo Artist, Best British Album (for 'I've Been Expecting You') and has two nominations in Best British Single ('Angels' and 'Millennium') and Best British Video ('Let Me Entertain You', 'Millennium') categories.
Williams is set to make his North American debut in April when EMI releases an as yet unnamed album that cherry-picks the best from 'Expecting' and 1996's 'Life Through A Lens'.
