Expos sign Lennon, Lira
MONTREAL (AP) -- Outfielder Patrick Lennon and right-hander Felipe Lira agreed Wednesday to minor league contracts with the Montreal Expos and were invited to spring training.Lennon, 31, hit .207 in nine games with Toronto last season, going 6-for-29 with two doubles, a home run and six RBIs. He hit a combined .287 at Triple-A Syracuse and Toledo. Lennon has spent parts of five seasons in the major leagues with the Mariners, Kansas City, Oakland and Toronto.
Lira, 27, had a 10.81 ERA in two games with Detroit last season, then was sent to Toledo and went 2-11 with a 6.71 ETA in 17 starts and 13 relief appearances. His career record in five seasons with the Tigers and Seattle Mariners is 21-38 with a 5.22 ERA.
