    GRIZZLIES 102, Hawks 97

    Abdur-Rahim leads Grizzlies to win

  • Summary

VANCOUVER (CP) -- Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 22 points and Othella Harrington added a season-high 21 points to lead the Vancouver Grizzlies to a 102-97 overtime victory against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night.

Abdur-Rahim, who also had 12 rebounds, was good on one of two free throws with 9.6 seconds left in regulation to tie the game 91-91. Atlanta's Bimbo Coles missed a 17-foot jumper at the buzzer.

The Grizzlies led 98-95 with 38 seconds left in overtime but Alan Henderson hit a layup to cut the lead to one. Bryant Reeves missed a jumper but Vancouver got the rebound and Mike Bibby was fouled. Bibby made both free throws with 10.2 seconds left. After Coles missed a three-pointer, Abdur-Rahim added two free throws to clinch the win.

Coles led Atlanta (1-4) with 20 points and Chris Crawford added 18.

Abdur-Rahim has hit double-double figures in scoring in all four games this season for Vancouver (2-2). Michael Dickerson, who had only six points in the first half, finished with 19 points and eight rebounds for the Grizzlies.

Vancouver held a 12-point lead with just under six minutes left in the first half but the Hawks rallied to finish the half tied 51-51.

When Atlanta starter Ditkembe Mutombo was benched in the second period after his third foul, he had a heated verbal exchange with head coach Lenny Wilkins and spent the rest of the half sitting.

The Grizzlies went on a 10-0 run midway through the third period but that was followed by an 8-0 run by Atlanta. Vancouver finished the third quarter with a 73-70 lead.
