The Hamilton Bulldogs dropped their pre-season opener 5-2 to the Toronto Marlies at the Oshawa Civic Auditorium. Jamie Tardif and Cory Urquhart scored for the Bulldogs. David Turon potted the game-winner for the Marlies at the 1:54 mark of the second period. The other Marlies goals were scored by Shaun Landolt, Brett Engelhardt, Martin Sagat and Dominic D’Amour. Hamilton goaltender Jaroslav Halak stopped 33 shots in a losing cause, while Todd Ford made 26 saves for Toronto to pick up the win.

Friday, September 30th - Bulldogs 7   Cleveland 4

In front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Welland Arena, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-0 first period lead on goals by Andrei Kostitsyn, Welland native Jamie Tardif, Derick Martin and Cory Urquhart. The Barons rallied in the third but fell short as Hamilton picked up their first win of the pre-season, defeating Cleveland 7-4. Francis Lemieux scored the game-winner midway through the second period, and Kostitsyn, with his second of the night, and Michael Lambert added insurance markers to seal the victory. Mike Iggulden, Riley Armstrong, Marc-Andre Roy, and Josh Hennessy had goals for the Barons. Olivier Michaud picked up the win for Hamilton, while Brett Jaeger took the loss for Cleveland.

Sunday, October 2nd - Bulldogs 1   Toronto 4

In their second meeting of the pre-season, the Bulldogs were once again defeated by the Toronto Marlies, this time by a score of 4-1 at the Haldimand County Caledonia Centre. The game was tied after the first period with Luke Fulgham scoring for Toronto and Michael Lambert replying for Hamilton. With Andrei Kostitsyn serving a five-minute high-sticking major, the Marlies took the lead on two power-play goals by Dominic D’Amour and Jeremy Williams. Brendan Bell’s power-play goal 1:27 into the third period rounded out the scoring. Olivier Michaud and Jeff Deslauriers combined to make 27 saves for the Bulldogs, while Marlies’ goaltender J-F Racine allowed only one goal on 32 shots.
