For over 20 years, Greg Edgelow of Burnaby, B.C., has displayed athletic excellence and great leadership abilities. His involvement in so many various aspects of Canadian sport is impressive.
As an athlete, he is an 11-year member of Canada's national wrestling team. He's won six Canadian titles and posted three top-10 performances at the world championships. He's also won medals at the Goodwill, Pan Am and was a Commonwealth Games champion in 1994. He retired after those Games but returned in 1997 and is the current Canadian champion in his category.
Outside the playing field, Edgelow has dedicated himself to bettering all aspects of Canadian sport. He has fulfilled various roles with numerous organizations including the Commonwealth Games Association of Canada, the National Sport Centre in Vancouver, Athletes CAN and the Simon Fraser University Alumni Association.
He is a member of the 2001 Pacific Games Vancouver and 2010 Vancouver Olympic bid athlete committees. He has also acted as events manager and coordinator for the Osteoporosis Society of Canada and coordinator for the Food Bank and Breakfast Program for the Kiwassa Neighborhood House.
