    Outstanding Junior Female Athlete

     The Elaine Tanner Award, honouring one of Canada's greatest female swimmers, is presented annually to the country's outstanding junior female athlete. Known affectionately as "Mighty Mouse", Elaine Tanner dominated Canadian swimming throughout the late 1960s. Her remarkable medal count includes four golds and three silvers at the 1966 Commonwealth Games, two golds and three silvers at the 1967 Pan American Games, and two silvers and a bronze at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico.
