Target Corporation says it plans to start hiring this year for its first foray into Canada, employing 150 to 200 at each new store.
Target confirmed its 24 store locations in Ontario Thursday, including Masonville Place and Westmount Shopping Centre in London.
The company is taking over sites currently operated by Zellers Inc. and says it will open 125 to 135 stores in Canada, most in 2013.
It plans to spend $10 million to $11 million remodelling each facility "in order to bring the full Target brand experience to Canadian communities."
Target said the company will "engage" with Zellers associates to make it easy for them to apply for jobs.
Others interested in working for Target are advised to visit www.Target.ca/careers to learn more about job opportunities, Target said in a news release.
The Minneapolis-based corporation has 1,767 stores across the United States.
