Canadians will no longer be able to file their tax returns over the phone.

The Canada Revenue Agency's Telefile service has been used by increasingly fewer Canadians every year as taxpayers turn to electronic filing - nearly 66% of the 25.4 million returns the agency received this year were filed online. Just 1.2% of returns were filed using Telefile, the CRA said.

The taxman still maintains a Netfile service for individuals filing their own personal income tax returns online, and EFILE for accounting professionals to file on behalf of their clients.
