Canadian retailers are in for a good holiday season, but they'll be fighting for customers who are looking for the best price, a new poll has found.
Deloitte Canada's holiday retail outlook forecasts sales will grow by 2-2.5% this year.
More than a quarter of Canadians (27.9%) say they'll shop online, with these purchases making up 18.9% of the average holiday budget.
To get the best price, 31.6% of those polled said they'll look for items to be on sale, 24.7% will research online to find discounts, while 21.6% will look for free shipping for online orders.
The survey also found 40.6% of Canadians have started shopping for gifts, or plan to before the end of November.
The online poll of 2,008 Canadians was conducted Sept. 20 to 25 and has an estimated margin of error of two percentage points.
