MONTREAL - Quebecor has announced the creation of a new division that regroups its news and entertainment products.
The sector will be called Media Group and it will be led by Julie Tremblay, a senior manager at Quebecor Media Inc.
Media Group will consolidate several existing divisions including QMI Agency as well as Sun Media Corporation, parent of the Sun newspapers and Sun News Network. Media Group will also include Quebec-based properties such as TVA Group Inc., the largest private French-language television network in North America. Quebecor Media Sales and Quebecor Media Printing Inc. will also be part of Media Group.
"Consumers' media habits have continued to evolve in recent years," says Quebecor president and CEO Pierre Dion. "The creation of Media Group maximizes the division's strengths and combines our skills to provide better, more diverse and distinctive content."
Dion says it's important for Quebecor's media entities to continue their evolution while maintaining brand strength.
"Media Group allows us to deliver our content more efficiently and with more agility across all our platforms, and to further our convergence … which has made our company such a success," adds Dion.
Tremblay will be the president and CEO of Media Group. She will also serve as president and CEO of TVA Group. She previously headed up Sun Media Corporation.
Dion says Tremblay is a "highly talented manager who has worked at Quebecor Inc. for more than 25 years. Her inâdepth knowledge of the organization and the industry will certainly be an asset for advancing Media Group's brands. She has my full confidence."
Tremblay says she's ready for the challenge.
"We will focus our efforts on continuing our strategic transformation to strengthen our leadership in entertainment and news media, while contributing to the profitability of TVA Group Inc. and Quebecor Media Inc.," she says.
"Every Media Group brand can be further developed by leveraging their respective strengths across all platforms: television, print, web, tablet and mobile."
