Young people across Ontario can receive awards of up to $3,000, gain high-demand skills and get hands-on training in running their own business with Summer Company 2002.
"Summer Company is a great opportunity for enterprising young people to gain a better understanding of how to run a business," said Bob Runciman, Minister of Economic Development and Trade.
Now in its second year, the provincial government initiative helps entrepreneurial students build their own summer businesses by providing start-up funding and business training.
Participants also work with local business leaders who
volunteer their time and expertise to mentor the young
entrepreneurs.
Last year, 180 students successfully completed the Summer Company program, operating businesses in a variety of fields, including technology, retail, manufacturing, food services and tourism.
