WORLD CUP FACTS
The oldest player participating is Scotland's Iain Philip, who turns 42 on June 9.
The youngest is Pakistan's Shahid Afridi, who just turned 19.
The tournament is being broadcast to 120 countries for a cumulative audience of two billion.
The fastest bowler in the tournament is Pakistan's Shoaib Akhtar, who has been clocked at 96 m.p.h (154.5 km-h). A ball bowled at that speed gives the batsman 0.39 seconds to decide what he will do with it.
During the six-week tournament, more than 75 tonnes of grass will be mown at the 21-host venue.
Host broadcasters SKY and BBC are using 45 commentators for the 42 matches.
The biggest team is Zimbabwe, which has ordered eight extra large shirts and seven extra extra large shirts. Bangladesh is the smallest squad.
