Baseball Canada announces departure of Hit*Run*Throw title sponsor
In a surprise announcement made in early November, Honda Canada Inc. has decided to end its long-standing relationship with Baseball Canada and has announced that they will not be returning as the title sponsor of the Hit*Run*Throw program for the 2002 season.
Extensive efforts by Baseball Canada and their marketing firm, Freedman & Associates Sports Marketing, to secure a new title sponsor for this year have been unsuccessful. Both organizations will continue to actively pursue potential sponsors for the program, hopefully succeeding in time to effectively plan for the 2003 season.
Although the program's other partners - MLB, Cooper, Easton and Tim-Br Mart are committed to the continued success of the program, the Baseball Canada Executive and the majority of Provincial Baseball Associations feel that the program cannot be delivered effectively without the financial contribution that Honda Canada Inc. has historically made.
Ontario Baseball Association, Baseball Quebec and Baseball Nova Scotia will be running variations of the Hit*Run*Throw program in their respective provinces and should be contacted directly for further details.
