    Afinogenov sent to minors

     BUFFALO, N.Y. (CP) -- Russian winger Maxim Afinogenov was among four players assigned by the Buffalo Sabres to their AHL farm club in Rochester, N.Y., on Tuesday.
     Afinogenov had been tabbed as a likely rookie addition.
     Also sent to Rochester were goaltender Martin Biron, right-winger Matt Davidson and defenceman Mike Hurlbut.
     Defenceman Dennis Vial, who was a training camp invitee, will not be offered a contract, general manager Darcy Regier announced.
