Friday, December 24, 1999 Old hat for FuhrFor Grant Fuhr, this pitstop is becoming as much a yearly ritual as training camp. "They took out the vaccum and flushed all the unneeded crap out of there," said Fuhr, of the 'scope done to his right knee this past Saturday. "It's the third year in a row. It's kinda looking like it might be an annual thing. But this kind of thing happens when you've had the knee reconstructed. "This was the time to get it done. It was irritating more than anything. It wasn't as if I couldn't play, but it's the difference between being 90 percent and 100 percent. "I just wasn't comfortable. And with Freddie playing as well as he is ... " Buoying Fuhr's spirits was the knowledge that, after having the same procedure performed a year ago while with St. Louis, he rebounded to carry the Blues into the playoffs and past the Phoenix Coyotes in a tense seven-game opening series. "Yeah, that puts me in a better frame of mind, for sure," said Fuhr. "I know the next week it's going to be pretty sore, but I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel. The first step is to get healthy enough to rehab." When does Fuhr expect to be back on the ice? "Whenever they let me." The original diagnosis is four to six weeks.
