    Brathwaite named player of the week

     NEW YORK (CP) -- Goaltender Fred Brathwaite is the NHL's player of the week after posting two shutouts and leading the Calgary Flames to a 2-0-1 record.

    Brathwaite has the NHL's best goals-against average at 1.91 and top save percentage a .933.
     
     Brathwaite edged out Penguins goalie Peter Skudra (3-0-0, 1.36 GAA), Red Wings forward Brendan Shanahan (three goals, two assists in two games) and Maple Leafs rookie winger Nik Antropov (four goals, one assist in three games).
