Tuesday, November 9, 1999 Moss gathers in K.C.
Tyler Moss finally has found a place to hang his goalie mask. At least temporarily. The disgruntled Flames third-string goaltender was loaned to Kansas City of the IHL yesterday. Moss said he's happy to have found any place to play after being off the ice for much of the last four weeks while the Flames attempted to find him a place to play. "I'd rather be going somewhere else but it's a place to play for a little bit," said Moss who added he's had no contact with the Flames for most of those four weeks. He lost his spot when the team traded for veteran Grant Fuhr, and then was placed on waivers but went unclaimed. "I'm quite a bit disappointed with that whole situation," said Moss. "I don't know if I fit in anywhere with this organization. "I wouldn't mind a trade. Things haven't worked out for two years and I'm at the age they have to give me an opportunity or move me." Moss lost his job last season when he injured his knee and Fred Brathwaite was signed and played so well for the team until veteran Ken Wregget returned from injury. Moss said he's still hopeful he may get a chance to play if an injury situation arises in Calgary. Moss couldn't be sent to Saint John because the Flames are trying to give Jean-Sebastien Giguere as much ice time as possible there to aid his development. "I want to prove to Brian I can play in this league," said Moss. "That's one of my big motivating factors right now." Moss took Orlando to the IHL finals last season and led Saint John to the AHL finals the year before that.
