Tuesday, October 5, 1999 Goalie prepares to face ex-matesCALGARY (CP) -- Grant Fuhr will face his former team tonight, the St. Louis Blues, who dumped him and his $3 million US salary before training camp. But the Calgary Flames goaltender says he won't be motivated by hurt feelings. "Obviously, they had other visions of their future," Fuhr told the Calgary Herald. "So you want to prove they made a mistake." "That's the way the game is these days. There are certain financial things teams are trying to run through. I figured they'd do it the year before, so they're only a year behind." He will be motivated, however, by a subpar performance in his first appearance with the Flames, getting the hook after 26 minutes in a 5-3 loss to San Jose on Saturday. "That's the beauty of this game," he said. "If you do have a bad game, you get a second chance to prove yourself. It just gives you that extra little push."
