![]() Big things were expected from Radek Bonk when he joined the organization in the 1994-95 season, but he's been a huge disappointment since signing as a rookie from the International Hockey League's Las Vegas Thunder. Armed with a five-year, $6-million contract, Bonk has been unable to use his size and strength to his best advantage. He has caused the coaching staff fits because, at 6-foot-3, he is one of the club's biggest forwards but hasn't made his presence felt. Bonk scored a respectable 16 goals and added 19 assists in 76 games during his 1994-95 rookie season, but has followed with porous seasons of 18 and 16 points in 1996-97 and 1997-98 respectively. Bonk was selected third-overall (behind Ed Jovanovski and Oleg Tverdovsky) in the 1994 entry draft. He won the IHL's 1994 rookie-of-the-year award with 87 points in 76 games while skating for the Las Vegas Thunder. For more on Radek Bonk, check out Hockey PLUS |
