A big, bruising blueliner, Brown is a tough cookie who fights and clears the slot. The Habs' 1994 first-rounder (18th overall) has spent the past two seasons in Fredericton (AHL). In 1997-98, he topped Montreal's affiliate club, Fredericton, by spending 297 minutes in the penalty box in 64 games. In 1996-97, he was called up for an eight-game tryout with the big club. Born in Baie Verte, Newfoundland, Brown played his junior hockey in North Bay (OHL) and Barrie (OHL). He was assigned to Fredericton during the 1995-96 season.
