![]() Benoit Brunet missed all but 39 games in the 1996-97 season, but bounced back and showed some scoring punch in a defensive role in 1997-98, notching 12 goals and 32 points in 68 games, all career highs. Considered fragile, Brunet has missed a total of 57 games over the past two seasons. Always among his team's best players in the plus-minus column, Brunet is a good puckhandler and sees a lot of penalty killing action for the Habs. He was the 27th overall selection in the 1986 entry draft. In the three years he spent with Hull of the Quebec Junior League, Brunet was always considered a good scorer. Following a three-year career with the Olympiques, Brunet took three more years to polish his game in the AHL. Thanks to a solid season in 1989, he was awarded with a berth on the AHL's first all-star team. After three short stints of two, 17 and 18 games with the big club, Brunet finally broke Montreal's lineup for good in 1992-93 when he dressed for 47 games.
