![]() Naslund became a Canuck at the March, 1996 trade deadline in a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Entering his sixth NHL season, the Canucks are hoping Naslund will finally start to live up to the billing he brought to the NHL after being a first-round draft pick of the Penguins in 1991. A respectable skater with natural scoring talents, the 25-year-old Naslund had his best season in 1995-96 when he registered 22 goals and 55 points. Luckily for him, 37 of those points came in the opening 29 games, when Naslund played on the same unit with the likes of Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr. He was dealt to the Canucks while in the midst of a prolonged slump. He enters the 1998-99 season with just 63 goals in 315 NHL games. During his final two seasons in the Swedish Elite League, Naslund always ranked among the top scorers but, unfortunately, he has failed to demonstrate that touch on a regular basis in the NHL.
