![]() The Canadiens acquired Quintal from the Winnipeg Jets in July of 1995. He's big, strong and plays smart hockey. Voted by the local press as the team's unsung hero in 1996-97, Quintal is a dependable stay-at-home rearguard who plays within his limitations. In three seasons with the Habs, he has scored 15 goals and 54 points. Quintal, entering his 11th NHL season, was picked 14th overall in the 1987 draft by Boston.The big blueliner was part of the big Craig Janney-Adam Oates trade with the Blues in 1991-92. He was also involved in the Phil Housley deal with the Jets two years later. Quintal led the Jets' defensive brigade with 154 shots on goal in 1993-94. During that season, he scored eight goals and 18 assists, both career highs. Quintal was a member of back-to-back Quebec major junior Hockey League championship teams in Granby and Hull and was a first-team all-star in 1987 with Granby after getting 54 points.
