Monday, March 29, 1999 Saint-Patrick honoured once againNEW YORK (CP) -- Avalanche star goalie Patrick Roy is the NHL's player of the week after going 3-0-0 with a 1.67 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage. Roy, who became the NHL's all-time winningest goalie on Sunday, edged teammate Theo Fleury (4-5-9 in three games), Mighty Ducks star winger Teemu Selanne (3-4-7 in two games) and Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood (3-0-0, 1.32 GAA) for the weekly award, the eighth of his career. Sunday's 7-2 victory over Los Angeles marked Roy's 506th career win (407 regular season, 99 post-season), surpassing former Montreal great Jacques Plante. Roy, a former Canadiens great himself, is 27-18-7 with a 2.31 GAA this season. |
