Friday, October 2, 1998Penguins 3, Avalanche 3Jagr finally cashes inPITTSBURGH (AP) Jaromir Jagr scored his first two goals of the preseason in the third period to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 3-3 tie with the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night. Jagr, who was scoreless in his previous three games, scored at 11:41 with an assist from Martin Straka and got an unassisted goal at 18:14. After falling behind 1-0 on Straka's power-play goal in the first period, the Avalanche scored three consecutive goals. Joe Sakic tied it with a power-play goal in the second period and Eric Lacroix put Colorado ahead 2-1 with a goal at 14:23 of the second. Stephane Yelle scored shorthanded at 9:00 of the third period to make it 3-1. Penguins forward German Titov left the game in the second period with a shoulder injury.
