Wednesday, January 7, 1998 Charges pendingThe eight indictments Alan Eagleson faces today in the Ontario Court of Justice (General Division):1. That in 1984 he defrauded Hockey Canada, the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association of $100,000, in relation to a payment from Hockey Canada to Harcom Stadium Advertising Inc. for the 1984 Canada Cup tournament. 2. That in 1984 he stole $100,000 from Hockey Canada, the NHL and the NHLPA with respect to a right of refusal or a commission relating to the 1984 Canada Cup. 3. That between 1983 and 1985 he defrauded Labatt Brewing Co. Ltd. of an amount exceeding $5,000 in relation to the ice hockey rinkboard advertising rights for the 1984 Canada Cup. 4. That between 1987 and 1988 he defrauded Hockey Canada, the NHL and the NHLPA an amount of $113,250 in relation to a payment to Harcom Consultants Limited, with respect to an alleged right of refusal or as a commission relating to the 1987 Canada Cup. 5. That between 1987 and 1988 he stole $113,250 from Hockey Canada, the NHL and the NHLPA, in relation to a payment to Harcom Consultants as a right of refusal or a commission relating to the 1987 Canada Cup. 6. That between 1986 and 1990 he stole air-travel passes from Hockey Canada, a value exceeding $5,000. 7. That between 1990 and 1992 he defrauded Labatt of money, property or valuable security of a value exceeding $5,000, in relation to rinkboard advertising rights for the 1991 Canada Cup. 8. That between 1991 and 1993 he stole air-travel passes obtained from Air Canada in relation to the 1991 Canada Cup, the property of Hockey Canada, of a value exceeding $5,000. |
